Welcome from the
Welcome to the Miami Valley Fire/EMS Alliance website. Or as we’re better known, the Alliance. The Alliance was formed in 1995 as Council of Governments under ORC 167. We’re a unique organization that works regionally to defray the cost of doing business for our members. Currently, we have 18 Voting/Full Members, four Associate Members, and five Affiliate Members. When people ask about the Alliance, I say, “We save the taxpayers’ money!” As you can imagine, it receives a very positive response. Currently, public safety departments are experiencing a shortfall of qualified personnel to fill numerous vacancies; especially in the part-time ranks. The Alliance has solutions.
The Alliance Advantage is the Roadmap to Success. If you’re interested in a public safety career, we are where you start. Working with our partner National Testing Network (NTN), the Alliance hosts entry level tests for firefighters, law enforcement, and call taker/dispatchers. The Alliance offers the IAFF/IAFC CPAT or Candidate Physical Ability Test; which is nationally recognized as the standard test for a candidate’s ability to perform fire service work for both men and women. The Alliance provides well-trained Proctors to assist candidates for successful outcomes.
To facilitate career advancement for firefighters, the Alliance works with our partner, Sinclair Community College Fire Science Department, in providing CEU requirements and archiving webinars on MVFEA.com.
When firefighters apply for officer ranks, the Alliance has NTN promotional testing, workshops for candidates: “How to Survive an Assessment Center”, and Assessment Centers designed for Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Fire Chief. Our list of volunteer Assessors reads like a regional Who’s Who in fire service. Without their help and expertise, we could not accomplish a high-quality center at a very low cost.
Regional training, cooperative, county-wide communications templates, May Day Training Trailer, and Confined Space Trailer is part of what we do. There is much, much more. Browse through the website for more information, or stop in and see us anytime, the coffee is always on.
