The Miami Valley Fire/EMS Alliance Committees

The Alliance currently has three standing committees; the Executive Committee, the Communications Committee, and the Training Committee. When necessary, the Alliance forms committees for special projects and initiatives. The standing committees meet once a month to guide the Alliance to further advancement of the Alliance Roadmap to Success as directed by the Strategic Plan.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee reviews and directs all Alliance programs and initiatives necessary to fulfill the purpose of the Alliance. The Executive Committee oversees the operation and activities of the Alliance, the staff, the public funds, and the annual A-133 Single Audit. The Executive Committee is elected by the Alliance Board of Directors and is composed of five members; one member from the City of Dayton and four from full-time or combination departments. Except where the By-laws require action authorized or taken by the Alliance Board, all authority of the Alliance shall be exercised by or under the direction of the Executive Committee to implement the approved work plan and budget.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is very active with several communication upgrades and the coordinating of changes in radio communications. They have developed and worked in Greene and Montgomery County by creating and upgrading Communication Templates, Radio Aliases, SOP’s and Training Exercises for Fire & EMS, Law Enforcement, Hospitals, and Public Works. The Communications Committee is well respected in the region and has achieved the level of “Best Practices”.

Training Committee

The Training Committee is working on Health & Wellness initiatives for firefighters. In addition, the committee is working on information for firefighters and EMS personnel who respond to the epidemic of opiate usage and overdoses. Webinar training is provided twice a month for Fire and Fire Inspectors through our partnership with Sinclair Community College Fire Academy. Training certificates (CEU’s) are provided, free of charge, to all Alliance members. For firefighter convenience, all webinars are archived on the Alliance website.
